Black Wood Cake




My husband's birthday was inward the recent past. I test to brand birthdays especial yesteryear making a cake from scratch for each of my menage unit of measurement member. So I made a 4-layer Black Forest cake amongst fresh cherries inward betwixt the layers too whipped cream frosting. I used the maraschino cherries inward syrup for the garnish on top. I had solely 2 half-dozen inch pans thus I baked inward them too sliced each cake into 2 layers. This batter would easily fill upwards iii half-dozen inch pans. Servings: 8-10 


Prep time: 45-60 mins Cook time: 30- twoscore mins Total time: 75-100 mins 


Ingredients: 


For the cake: 

Flour: 2 cups 
Cocoa powder: 3/4 cup 
Instant coffee: 1 & 1/2 tbsp
Powdered sugar: 1 & 1/2 cups 
Baking soda: 1 & 1/2 tsp
Baking powder: 1 tsp
Salt: 1/4 tsp
Cooking oil: 1 cup
Vanilla essence: 1 tsp 
Milk: 1 cup
Hot water: 1 cup
Eggs: 2 large 

For the frosting: 

Whipping cream: 2 cups
Confectioners sugar: 2 cups 
Vanilla essence: 1 tsp 

For layering too garnishing:

Cherries: 1 cup
Sugar syrup: 1/2-1 cup 
Chocolate curls: 1/4 cup 

Method: 


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. 

Place the bowl too beaters for the cream inward the freezer to chill. 

Grease too trouble iii half-dozen inch or 2 8 inch trays amongst parchment newspaper too proceed ready.

Dissolve the instant java inward the hot H2O too proceed ready.

Seive all the dry out ingredients into a bowl. Mix well. 

In some other bowl, rhythm out the eggs well. To this add together oil, vanilla essence, milk too mix. 


Now slow add together the moisture ingredients to the dry out ingredients.  Add inward the instant java too mix.Do non overmix.


Pour the mixture into the prepared pans until 3/4 th full. 


Tap the pans against the kitchen counter earlier placing it on the middle rack inward the oven. Bake at 350 degF. for 30-40 mins or until a toothpick when inserted comes out clean. 



Take the pans out too allow them cool on the kitchen counter for atleast xxx mins.

While the cakes are cooling, laid upwards the whipped cream. 

To brand the whipping cream, accept the chilled bowl too beaters out. To this add together the whipping cream. Whip on medium until soft peaks emerge, roughly 3-4 minutes. 
Now add together inward the vanilla essence too the confectioners saccharide piffling at a time. Whip for some other 2-3 minutes.


Keep the cream dorsum inward the refrigerator until ready to frost the cake.

Assembling the cake:

Once the cakes are cooled, bird each of the cakes. 


If you lot are using 2 pans, you lot volition cause got to piece each cake into 2 layers. Keep the layers aside. 

Sprinkle saccharide syrup on all the layers. This keeps the cake moist.

Take a cake circle ( the cardboard on which you lot intend to gather the cake). Place some frosting on the middle of the cake circle. Place the start layer of cake. Place a large dollop of whipped cream on orbit of it. Using an angled spatula, spread the cream evenly. Now evenly distribute pieces of cherry on orbit of the cream. 



Place the adjacent layer of cake too repeat the to a higher house process. Do this to all available layers until you lot cause got placed the final layer on top. 


Once the final layer is placed, frost the cake evenly inward all directions. 


You tin piping peaks of whipped cream on orbit too brand borders at the bottom. I used Wilton tip no: . Place cherries on orbit of the peaks.



Decorate the middle amongst chocolate shavings. If you lot wishing you lot tin decorate the sides of the cake amongst chocolate shavings too!! 



Refrigerate the cake until ready to eat.
